Roberto Luongo

Roberto Luongo started his hockey career at age 8 as a forward before making the switch to goalie.  He is the first NHL goaltender to serve as captain since 1947.  Luongo met his wife, Gina Cerbone, while playing for the Florida Panthers at the team hangout Pizza Time Trattoria.   Luongo turned down the job as starting goaltender for the 2008 NHL All-Star Game in order to be with his wife who at the time was pregnant with his daughter Gabriella, born in March of 2008.  Did you know that at the end of many of his games, Roberto has been known to give away his goalie stick to a fan in the crowd?  Or that his first job was selling shoes at his father’s shoe store?
